Batik holds a very special place in the heart of N.G. the person behind Ornel Soie, whose father Mui Hak had owned a sarong factory in Muar, Johor producing sarongs under the popular brand cempaka and ikan emas. The history of batik dates back to almost a century ago, a special print, handmade from scratching, waxing by canting, and coloring using dye, based on floral and fauna motifs.

Several pieces of batik garments designed by N.G. were well received by his clientele in France. The Ornel Soie Batik fashion show in Paris in 2007 and the second show held in Kuala Lumpur in 2008 were met with immense success. N.G. has a dream of realising with batik, a `mode’ or fashion in European style, adapted to the global batik.
